Join us for a honey tasting! Honey is one of the oldest sweeteners known to be consumed by humans and we’re pretty sweet on it at the Deli (have you seen our wall of honey?). In this Meet the Maker event, Deli Event Coordinator Tessie Ives-Wilson and Specialty Food Manager Aislinn McAllister will be joined by second-generation beekeeper and honey curator Josh Zeldner of Z Specialty Food and Moon Shine Trading Co. Moon Shine Trading has been sourcing and selling honey in California since 1980 and we’ll talk about how bees and beekeepers come together to produce honey, what a “single varietal honey” means. We’ll also share some of our favorite things to do with honey in the kitchen! Honey and apples are a traditional part of the upcoming Rosh Hashana celebrations, so we’ll include a few apples from the Ann Arbor Farmer’s Market to enjoy with your honey for this event.
