Family Food Tasting: Passover Seder

Saturday, April 4, 2020 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Zingerman’s Upstairs Next Door

We invite you to join us for this special FAMILY FOOD TASTING event to learn about foods eaten at a Jewish Passover Seder. Our kids tasting expert Jenny Hall will explore the Passover foods that Zingerman’s Deli kitchen prepares each spring for the holiday (charoset and matzo ball soup are our favorites!) We’ll learn how to taste like an expert and use our new skills as we taste. We’ll be joined at this event by local author Carol Levin who will share her book HAGGADAH REGATTA, a family Haggadah, and lead us through a fun, festive, non-religious Passover Seder. This event is ideal for families who want to learn more about the Passover holiday, try new foods, or explore holiday traditions different from their own.

It’s traditional at a Passover Seder for everyone to have a Haggadah, a book that tells the Passover story. Kids and adults at this event will all receive a copy of Carol’s book so we can all follow and stomp along.

Families with kids ages 3-8 would most enjoy this event, however kids of all ages are welcome to join the party. All participants will receive a 20% off coupon to use after the tasting to eat and/or shop at the Deli. Please include your child’s name, age, and any allergy information in the comments field when you register. Thank you!

Camp Bacon® Brunch with Molly Stevens

Sunday, June 7, 2020 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am at Zingerman’s Greyline

Wake up and smell the bacon, and eat it too, at this one time only special event at Zingerman’s downtown art deco event space, Greyline. Cooking instructor and James Beard Award winning author Molly Stevens and Zingerman’s Delicatessen chef Rodger Bowser will partner up in the kitchen to create a bodacious brunch buffet with a bit of bacon flair.

The recipes will be adapted from Molly’s latest cookbook, All About Dinner: Simple Meals, Expert Advice. The Atlantic, Washington Post and NPR all declared it one of the “Best Cookbooks of 2019”. The smell alone will be worth getting out of bed for, but the flavors are going to knock your slippers off! Brunch will also include mimosas, coffee and juice. A cash bar and Molly’s cookbooks will be available for an additional cost.

This event is part of Zingerman’s 11th annual Camp Bacon®, a 5-day food learning and tasting experience that supports the Southern Foodways Alliance, Washtenaw County 4-H and the Shelter Association of Washtenaw County. You can choose just one event or join them all including the Main Event featuring an all-day line-up of captivating guest speakers and a menu of scrumptious bacon bites, as well as the Bacon Ball dinner, Bacon Film Festival, Bacon Street Fair, tastings, classes, and more. It is a food camp that satisfies your mind as much as your taste buds. Don’t get us wrong, you will leave having tasted a lot of bacon, but we are there to share the story behind it. This unique bacon opportunity only comes once a year, so don’t miss it!

*$20 from each ticket will be donated to Southern Foodways Alliance
