Calling all pescatarians and pesca-enthusists! We’re kicking off a brand new event serious with one of our most affable mongers – Zingerman’s Deli fish buyer, Kevin Bowker. You’ll enjoy a light meal composed of a few simple dishes made with some of our favorite types of fish. In this second offering – we’ll be exploring the tastes of sardines. Your tasting experience comes with a series of small plates and amuse bouche, plus an hour of jovial discussion and conversation with Kevin.
Cooking with little, oily fish packed into tins doesn’t exactly scream “sexy food”, but sardines are having a moment despite their lack of alluring catchphrases! A staple in the pantry of France & Spain these little fish pack a big flavor and are really versatile in the kitchen. Tasty, packed with nutritional benefits, and in a container that’s a portable size perfect for weeknight dinners and backwoods adventure alike – sardines represent over a fifth of the tinned fish selection that we have on the shelf, and for good reason! Kevin discuss the different preparations (and ages!) of sardines that we carry at the Deli, talk about why we love them, and send you home with a couple of recipes to get you started on your sardine-loving journey in your own kitchen.
The event will be followed by an opportunity for a private, personal shopping experience with Kevin in the Deli after the event, during which you can enjoy 20% your specialty foods purchase.
