Pasta 101

This event will take place virtually on Zoom!

The basic process for producing dried pasta is fairly simple, and likely familiar, to many folks. Flour and water are mixed into a dough; the dough is extruded through metal dies to create a multitude of shapes and sizes; the freshly pressed pasta is then dried to preserve it. Finally, the pasta is packed and shipped for sale. While the basic process is consistent, you really can taste the difference between a supermarket brand and an artisan pasta!

In this Pasta 101 class, you’ll be joined on Zoom by two of our biggest pasta enthusiasts, Deli Managing Partner and lead pasta buyer, Grace Singleton, and Events Assistant Connor Valone. They will talk about what truly makes a great pasta, introduce you to some our favorite pasta producers and highlight what to look for on a package when you’re shopping for pasta. And best of all, we’ll taste and talk about all the ways we love to eat pasta, especially the different shapes and sauces they pair with.

This is a great class for pasta lovers and those looking to learn a bit more about artisan pasta and pasta making, as well as those who just want to know how we love to eat the very best pasta in the world that we’re lucky to sell off of our shelves.
