
We’re introducing you to our passionate team of experts. Today’s featured Deli crew member is our Accountant, Zachary Bach!
Meet Zachary

Zachary grew up in Grand Blanc, MI, before moving to Mount Pleasant in 2013 for undergrad at Central Michigan University — where he met his husband, Kris! After graduating in 2016 with a bachelor’s of science in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting, Zachary and Kris moved to Ann Arbor. They both always wanted to live here, and it allowed them to stay close to family.
Zachary worked at McDonald’s in high school for about a year, then worked as a pharmacy technician at Meijer throughout college. After getting his degree in accounting, he worked at Koppert Biological Systems for seven years. In Ann Arbor, he was at RealTruck for about a year before he joined the team at Zingerman’s.

Zachary at the Deli
Zachary has been a Deli staffer since January 2025. This is his first accounting job that involves food service, and it’s been an interesting experience to learn about the accounting process from this new perspective. His favorite part about working here is that he feels he can fully be himself. “I feel so lucky that I get to work at Zingerman’s Deli with so many awesome people,” he says. He looks forward to continuing to improve the Deli’s financial reporting and how to better streamline the processes. He’s also very proud of having tried every sandwich on the Deli menu!
Five Fun Facts:

1. Zachary goes to the movie theater at least once a week, if not more.
2. In college, Zachary competed in an amateur drag competition here in Ann Arbor — he ended up making it to the final round, but ultimately lost as he did not know the words to Lady Marmalade from Moulin Rouge. The song haunts him to this day!
3. His Dream Deli Meal is Kevin’s Summer Club, a past Sandwich of the Month.
4. The Ides of March, a past Sandwich of the Month that refashioned our Chicken Caesar Salad into a sandwich, came from Zachary! But if he had a sandwich named after him, it would have buffalo chicken with bleu cheese, ranch, and sliced pickles.
5. Zachary’s favorite food memory is the trip he and Kris traveled to Saugatuck with their friends in the summer of 2025. A local specialty foods store lent Kris a paella pan for him to make some incredible paella at their Airbnb!
