Cheese Tastings included with Ticket

A cheesemonger is like a sommelier for cheese. In America, it’s often an unappreciated job, as detailed in a recent New York Times article by Peter Wells (gift link here). Our friend Adam “Mr. Moo” Moskowitz hopes to change that by putting attention on the craft and skill of being a cheesemonger! We are so excited to be partnering with The Michigan Theater to bring Ann Arbor an opportunity to screen the film “The Big Cheese” on Friday, August 21st!

You’ll learn about The Cheesemongers Invitational (where some of our Deli mongers have competed in the past), where about four dozen mongers compete in 15 categories of curd expertise, and watch as the 2023 champions move on to that year’s Mondial du Fromage – the “Olympics of Cheese” – where the US has never won. “The Big Cheese” follows these underdogs through cultural clashes, personal struggles, and melting cheese as they train for the ultimate competition.

Mr. Moo himself will be at the screening, along with our Deli mongers who will demonstrate some mongering skills and lead a tasting. Your ticket will also include a Wine & Cheese Reception in The Screening Room Lobby post-screening, with complimentary tastings for ticket-holders and paired wines for sale by the glass.
