Meet the Maker: The Great Mississippi Tea Company

This event will take place IN PERSON at Zingerman’s Delicatessen!

Far from the mythical mountain tea gardens of central China and Japan, some of the world’s best (and most ethical) tea farming is happening in the subtropical climate of the American South. Take your tongue on a trip down the Mighty Mississippi to the tiny town of Brookhaven. There, amongst old cattle-grazing lands, Timmy Gipson and the folks at The Great Mississippi Tea Company are leading the way in American artisan tea. Our Deli tea specialist and buyer, Jackson Konwinski, has done great work to bridge the gap between Mississippi and Michigan, bringing some world-class tea to our shelves, and now we’re bringing Timmy to the Deli as well!

Now, for the first time ever, we’re hosting Timmy for a morning of great tea and conversation, as he takes a break from harvesting season to join us in Ann Arbor for a tasting of the signature Mississippi Queen green tea, as well as other exciting offerings from the Great Mississippi Tea Company, like green and oolong-processed teas grown on their estate. Join us in celebrating a new American tea tradition!

With your ticket you’ll enjoy many rounds of freshly steeped tea from the Great Mississippi Tea Company, inspired regional pairings & cake from Zingerman’s Bakehouse, as well as two relaxing and engaging hours of great conversation and learning from Jackson and Timmy.
