KC and the Sunshine Sand(wich), May’s Sandwich of the Month
Longtime friends of Zingerman’s, Kathy & John Charpie are the creators of this month’s Sandwich of the Month: KC and the Sunshine Sand(wich). A distinguished pediatric cardiologist at University of Michigan Mott Hospital and a board member of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Ann Arbor (RMHCAA), Dr. Charpie cast the winning bid on a create-a-sandwich opportunity we donated to the RMHCAA benefit auction to support the advancement of their mission. RMHCAA provides essential services that remove barriers, strengthen families and promote healing when children need healthcare – the majority of Dr. Charpie’s patients have families that stay at RMHCAA during their treatment.
Dr. Charpie created this sandwich to honor his wife Kathy (aka KC), who he describes as his “best friend and life partner–she is elegant, beautiful, generous, but fun, down-to-earth, and a little spicy (just like the sandwich!)”
The KC and the Sunshine Sand(wich) is available every day in May: BBQ chicken, Vermont cheddar, coleslaw, chilis, ranch and extra BBQ sauce on grilled Farm bread.
