Stay at home and join us virtually for STEEP: an exploration of tea. Unlike most Deli tastings, this event takes a deep dive on just one or two fantastic teas we offer. We’ll share the history of each tea, its production style, the terroir, the harvest, and anything else that makes it special. While we learn we’ll taste at least two steepings or preparations (sometimes more) of each tea to illuminate how the flavor can evolve. No matter your level of expertise you’re sure to learn something. You may even find a new favorite!
October’s STEEP will feature two new chai blends, one green tea blend with turmeric and ginger and black tea blend with chicory and black cardamom. As a baseline reference, we’ll also be tasting our classic Masala Chai. As a group, we’ll pick one of the new blends to prepare both the traditional way and the quick way. Then we’ll taste it against a quick steeping of the other chai blend and our house Masala Chai made with our own concentrate.
The $20 fee will provide you with access to 1 Zoom meeting link PLUS one tasting portion of tea and cake. If you have multiple people in the same house that would like to taste together, add an additional tasting kit for $10 per person. The Zoom link will be emailed to you. Tea and cake can be picked up at the Deli on the day of the event or delivered to your local Ann Arbor address for an additional $5.99. Participants receive a 20% off coupon to use after the tasting.
