Join us for an informative evening as two craft chocolate makers, Jody and DC Hayden, share their stories of sourcing cacao and making chocolate, while we taste an assortment of Conexion Chocolate’s direct trade chocolate (débuting at the Deli in October!) and Grocer’s Daughter Chocolate’s hand-made truffles.
We are thrilled to be hosting the truffle makers and owners of Grocer’s Daughter Chocolate, located in Empire, MI. They have been working with Ecuadorian Chocolate Maker Jenny Samaniego, founder of Conexión Chocolate, to find ethically-sourced cacao, while at the same time crafting complex and flavorful chocolates. We’ll get to hear all about their work with Conexión Chocolate, adventures to cacao farms and the farmers they’ve met along the way.
Jenny Samaniego’s mission is to celebrate and grow the market for Ecuador’s fine flavored Arriba Nacional cocoa beans. Jenny grew up in Quito, Ecuador, where her father worked for one of the best hotels in the country and she graduated with a Hospitality Management degree so she learned early on to value exceptional quality and service. After moving to the States and working for international chocolate companies like Pacari and Vintage Plantations in various roles, Jenny launched Conexión to represent and grow the market for her beloved Ecuadorian cocoa. She is inspired by Ecuador’s hardworking cocoa farmers and is dedicated to making a world-class chocolate to showcase the unique flavors of Ecuadorian cocoa. In 2017, Jenny’s chocolate formulations were awarded both silver and bronze in the prestigious Academy of Chocolate awards.
