"One of my dearest friends (a New Yorker) was banished to Tennessee. He was an outstanding cardiologist. After several years in Tennessee he developed chest pain and was diagnosed as having coronary disease and needed surgery. One week before surgery he called me and requested a pastrami sandwhich from Zingerman's. Was he planning a delightful suicide? No he just wanted the great taste of pastrami before hospitalization. I complied and Zingerman's sent the sandwhich to him. He said it was wonderful as usual. The surgery was successful and a few days later he said he will be coming to Ann Arbor in May and I believe he wants to see me, but really wants another great Zingerman's sandwich."
