National Bike Month
RIDE ON DOWN, ROUND ON UP! A fundraiser for the League of Michigan Bicyclists
–Donate to help keep Michigan cyclists safe!–
The birds are chirping, flowers are in bloom and bicycle wheels are in motion. Spring is here! May is National Bike Month – so we thought, what better way to help support the good folks at the League of Michigan Bicyclists than with a fundraiser? The mission of the League of Michigan Bicyclists (LMB) is to promote bicycling and the safety of bicyclists on the roadways of Michigan. For the entire month of May, you can round your transaction up to the nearest dollar to make a donation to help LMB fight to make Michigan a more bicycle-friendly state.
We also have donation boxes set up at the registers – drop a few coins or leave a few dollars – every little bit helps!
League of Michigan Bicylists
LMB is a non-profit, tax-exempt statewide membership organization working to improve conditions for bicycling in Michigan. LMB supports many programs and projects and cooperates with state and local agencies and other like-minded groups toward this goal.
LMB holds an annual Bicycle Advocacy Day each spring at the State Capitol to communicate legislative priorities with our elected state officials. LMB also holds an annual statewide Bicycle Summit to help provide education and tools to improve cycling conditions at the local level.
BIKE BAND-AID KIT
We’re all about supporting cyclists and alternative forms of commuting. It’s good for us and good for the Earth! Anyone who’s been on the roads of Michigan knows that it’s often not a smooth ride – potholes-a-plenty and bumpy as all get out. That’s why we teamed up with Common Cycle to build a Bike Band-Aid Kit for anyone who may need a quick fix.
A group of dedicated volunteers empowering Ann Arbor to ride bicycles by providing access to education, workspace and resources. Common Cycle’s main activity during the non-snowy months is their Mobile Repair Stand. The MRS is a portable bike workshop that they haul around on bike trailers and set up every Sunday at the Kerrytown Artisan Market from 11am-3pm, April to October.
The Commuter Challenge is an online commuting competition that happens during the month of May. Organizations compete against others to see if they can get the most people to do an alternative commute. Learn more and register here.
