December 2007

The next 31 days can be a little crazy
Parties and holidays leave little time to be lazy.

We at Zingerman's would like to keep it easy,
Help make your time smooth, fun and breezy

So, here's 31 things to remember
For the month of December

If you like big bold fresh olive oil flavor
Newly pressed Olio Nuovo is a thing to savor.

Breakfast is hardly worth gettin' out of bed and makin'
If you don't use Nueske's Applewood Smoked Bacon.

Our Creamery has figured out its cheese schtick
With the pepper-filled Detroit Street Brick.

Does looking at our fish options leave you on the fence?
Try the white pepper covered Salmon from Tracklements.

The Bakehouse's Cranberry Pecan bread is great for snackin'
How much goodness can one loaf pack in?

One goat's milk cheese you may want to hog
Is our house-made Lincoln Log.

Maybe it's coffee with which you toast
If so, try our annual Holiday Roast.

There is no treat better for a dedicated giver
Than our sweet sultry blue cheese from Rogue River.

For a delicious anytime treat to parcel out by the gram
Ask for a few slices of Col. Newsom's Kentucky Ham.

Toast in the morning not making you swoon?
Slather on some preserves from American Spoon.

Looking for a way to really gild the lily?
Use our new Frantoio Olive Oil from Chile.

Winter blues got you down, longing for somewhere sunny?
It's summer in Chile, try their Wild Strawberry Honey.

The Joseph Vinegar gets us to ponder
How lucky we are to get food from down under.

To my duties I'd certainly be shirkin'
If I didn't mention the Chilean spice Merken.

Oaxacan Mole Rojo will dress up any chicken
Or stir it into soup and watch the flavor thicken

Ever wonder why we carry a Chilean honey named Ulmo?
Stop by for a quick taste, then you'll know.

Dulce de Leche caramel will warm you like a sauna,
It's the best thing to come out of Argentina since Maradona.

Your best German friend is sure to say "Danke"
To a cup of our Ceylon tea from Sri Lanka.

Around the world we rove
To bring you oils from New Zealand like Moutere Grove.

Cooking for many — need big flavors in haste?
Be sure to open a jar of Charmaine Solomon's Curry Paste.

Searching for the finest flavors in all of Europe?
Look no further than our Sour Cherries in Syrup.

Precious Balsamic Vinegar in the Juniper wood edition
From the Barbieri family — devoted keepers of tradition

Bringing home slices of Prosciutto di Parma
It's sure to bring you good karma.

Our Bakehouse's Panettone is so much more than a fruitcake
The kind of gift you want to give (or take).

Our new Stilton is big, bold, delicious and raw,
In England they call it Stichelton: it's the law.

Whenever someone takes home the cheese Gabietou
I feel like pleading, "I want some too!"

Amongst sharp English cheeses none is better
Than Farmhouse 18-month-old Montgomery's Cheddar.

We'd like to present you with — Seigneurs des Baux
Our new Provencal olive oil — it's soft, silky and mellow

Bergkase is our new aged German mountain cheese
It's as good as Hirtenkase, another one sure to please.

Or indulge yourself with a Wisconsin Mountain cheese fondue
It's deeply flavor and will comfort and warm you

And to bring us to 31 we have Agrodolce Bianco
A perfectly balanced vinegar with a bright golden glow.

We hope you have a great holiday season
See you at Zingerman's Delicatessen.

Holiday Gift Fair
Thursdays, December 6th, from 4-7pm
Upstairs Next Door

Thanksgiving is over. It's the first week of December and thoughts about the upcoming Holidays are beginning to occupy our minds. Holiday parties. Shopping for gifts. Lists of people to buy gifts for. Questions are beginning to pop in our heads. What on earth am I going to get Aunt Mabel this year?

It's tempting, we know, to put those thoughts aside. After all, it's only December 3rd. But we'd like to humbly suggest that there's no time like the 'present'.

It's a sorry pun. But we think the idea makes sense. Get a head start on your holiday shopping, beat the crowds, pre-empt the stress and spend the weeks leading up to the Holidays day dreaming of the fabulous foods you'll eat and wonderful gifts you'll give and receive.

Come to our Gift Fair. It's on Thursday, December 6th, from 4 pm to 7 pm. It's going to give you a head start, there's great food to taste and it's free!

It's upstairs in the Cafe Next Door. We're setting up tables so that you can walk around and talk and taste while you shop. We'll be featuring gifts ranging from $5 to $500. We'll feature foods ranging from pantry staples to those obscure foods that will enthrall the foodie in your life. We'll suggest ideas for food to serve at all those holiday parties you're going to host. We'll show off our menu of gift baskets to help you choose one for your friends and family. Whether you're looking for tokens of appreciation for the folks at your office and school or something to sweep that certain someone of their feet — we'll have ideas for you.

Come join us. We'll talk and taste together. We'll help you make a list if that's what you'd like. But best of all, we'll help you find the gift that will make Aunt Mabel love you forever.

So stop on by, taste a little, talk a little, and tackle your holiday shopping list.
